LIZZIE missing since May 2007 now found
« on: July 12, 2009, 10:15:40 AM »
Our beloved Jack Russell Lizzie went missing from our secure garden on Tuesday at approx 4.00pm. She had her collar on and is chipped. Her brother went at the same time and was found on the Woodborough Road later that afternoon. The finder saw Liz but was unable to pick her up, Liz is a little shy and does not usually go to people she doesn't know. This was the last sighting.
Her brother was without his collar when we collected him, we fear that they may have been deliberately let out.
Liz is tiny, a pretty tri-colour spayed bitch with the sweetest brown eyes.
We are offering a cash reward for her safe return.
Please callwith any news.
Thank you for your help.

Lizzie has been found!!!!

Incredibly 2 years, 2 months and 10 days after going missing Lizzie was found 70 miles away hiding in a stable.

She was taken to St Georges Vets in Wolverhampton who scanned her on the off chance that this filthy, scruffy, smelly little mutt had been chipped. One phone call later we were on our way to pick her up.

Lizzie appears to have been used as a working dog and has a few battle scars on her face and legs. The latest of which the vet thinks is an infected rat bite. She has bald patches on her elbows and her paws are raw which is consistent with being forced into a confined space to flush out rats or rabbits.

Liz has now had a bath, supper, started her antibiotics, been treated for fleas and ticks and is currently sunbathing on the landing - always a favourite spot.

All I can say to anyone looking for their beloved pet is don't give up hope, one day, hopefully a bit sooner than in our case, your phone will ring and they will be on their way home.

Seems like you found Lizzie in time as that rat bite could have proved to be extremely life threatening. Thank goodness for antibiotics.  How sad that she had been treated like this. "We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals." Don't you think?  Her paws will heal and the bald patches grow back and the good thing is that she will grow in confidence too. I am overjoyed that Lizzie is back once more with her family. She certainly deserves all that pampering and attention. x  :)
