BIRD Lurcher - bitch -near Calne, Wiltshire SN11
« on: March 22, 2008, 11:46:56 AM »

Lurcher - bitch (entire)
Dark grey neck, back and tail with almost white head and light grey legs. Long haired but with skin condition leading to hair thinning all over and patches of hair lost on back and rear. Scabs on back where she keeps pushing through the fence into the field next door. Small cuts from brambles on legs. Nails need cutting. Approx 24 inches tall at shoulder. 14 years old. Collar with cardboard tag wrapped in cellotape.
She is very old and stiff and has difficulty lying down, so we always help her. She does a lot of walking round in small circles and never goes more than 200 yards from home. Yatesbury is a mile down a No Through Road.
Missing 5 pm Thursday 20 March 2008 in Yatesbury, near Calne, Wiltshire. SN11 8YE

She hasn't the energy to go far from home and went missing 5 pm Thurs 20 March 2008 before she had her dinner.

Hi Chris,

My mistake.  I didn't realise she is still showing on your site.  We did find her, but she'd gone away to die as animals sometimes do.  She's gone straight across country away from roads and was found under a farm building three miles from here.  She was very, very old and it must've been an epic journey for her to go so far to make sure she wouldn't be found as she'd not gone more than a quarter of a mile from the house in the last year.  I brought her back in a big box on the handle bars of my bike and we buried her in the garden where she used to sit under the apple tree.

Thanks for your help when she went missing.  I was struck by how many wonderfully kind people you meet when something like this happens.  I'm sorry that I left the info about her being lost up on your site.

Best wishes

Paul
