Have phone Leigh again and asked them if there's any way they could contact the new owners and ask them to let us have a photograph of the dog they've re-homed. Simply so that we can clarify if it was Holly that has been found so that we can put closure on the whole thing.
The response I had was to leave it with them for a week then phone back!! Fingers crossed they'll try but I'm not sure whether I hold much hope!

I hope they'll co-operate Mel. If not I'd pester the lives out of them. Even if you can't get her back, you need to know so that, if it's not Holly, you can continue your search. They've obviously never been in your position. You'd think so-called animal lovers would show a little compassion. Chris

My sentiments exactly. I just feel that they're really not interested when I call them. Saying that, it was a different lady I spoke to this time but again, they weren't interested in taking any of my details - just to call back in around a weeks time!!

I have taken a look at their site and they have a lost and found dog page..im wondering if its worth maybe posting a picture of Holly as a lost dog and seeing if either a member of staff recognises her or maybe the new owner uses the site. Could be worth a shot maybe? Sorry to hear they were as unhelpful as they seem to be, i would be tempted (if it werent for the dogs) to say to them that you will put all prospective adoptees off using them - but then, thats a bit harsh on the poor dogs. Good luck, i hope this is soon resolved and you reach a conclusion to Holly missing.

Rang Leigh today to see if they'd heard anything from the new owners of the dog which was found. Ended up speaking to somebody different again but this time, really felt like they were genuinely interested. Basically, nothing had been done since last time I rang (wasn't surprised there) but the guy did say that they could either write to the owner and explain our situation or if I wanted, I could write a letter which they will then pass onto the owner.
Obviously I'm not sure whether the sanctuary will pass on any letter but I'm going to put one together tonight, along with a photo of Holly and post it to Leigh for them to then pass onto the new owner. Fingers crossed, they will pass it onto the people who re-homed the dog and understand why we need to know if this little dog is Holly or not!!
Thanks everybody for all your support and advice.

Good luck lets hope it is Holly, if it is lets hope the people who have are honest enough to let you know and send her back to where she belongs, although in doing this it will break their hearts as well.
Keeping everything crossed that this is Holly. XX

it would be good if you have the name of the person you spoke too today, the one who was so helpful, maybe your letter could be addressed to them as they seemed to show such a genuine interest in your situation. It seems they would be the most likely person to pass on your letter. Good luck to you - i really hope this is soon resolved for you.

Don't worry, I did get the name of the guy I spoke to and addressed the letter to him so fingers crossed he will forward it on. Put the 'new owners' letter in a stamped envelope so that Leigh didn't have to worry about paying any postage or providing an envelope!!! Gone into quite lengthy detail in the letter about Holly and how she/we believed she disappeared etc so hopefully, if they are genuinely nice, dog loving people, they will contact us.
I also included a photo of Holly and then, the new owners can see for themselves whether they believe this dog to be Holly or not. Obviously if Holly looks totally different to the one they've re-homed, I feel there's a better chance of them contacting us as they'll realise the dog they've re-homed is safe with them but they can reassure us that it isn't Holly by sending a photo. Well, that's my theory anyway....
The letter would have reached Leigh no later than Friday 2nd so hopefully, they'll forward it straight on either today or Monday so the owners should have it by mid-week, hopefully we'll have a reply by next weekend or early part of the following week.
Thanks again everybody for your support.

Received a phone call last week from the new owners of the dog which we thought may be Holly. They were kind enough to take a photo of the dog they'd re-homed and forward it to my mobile which, on receipt, was quite apparent it wasn't Holly.
In some respects we feel relieved that Holly hadn't been re-homed but then again, she's still missing!
So grateful for Leigh for actually forwarding the letter onto the new owners (although it didn't cost them anything other than a couple of seconds to write the owners address on an envelope). Without their cooperation though, we would never have known whether it was Holly or not.

Mel i am so sorry that the search still goes on for sweet little Holly, at least now you can out closure on that line of enquiries and concentrate in other areas.
Come home sweetheart, keep safe and well.

So sorry it wasn't Holly Mel. I'm glad that the rescue were co-operative in the end and at least you know it wasn't her. Will keep looking out for Holly in my area and on other web sites. Chris

Still looking for you Holly!
We thought we'd found you the other day, my heart sank when it wasn't you. It was your twin but unfortunately male!
