Help us to save Dolly

PLEASE HELP US SAVE DOLLY

Dolly was found wandering the mean streets of Hackney on Tuesday morning in a truly disgusting state. She has been starved and severely abused by her previous owners, yet despite this has the most wonderful temperment - she just wants to be loved.

**Please note that we have contacted PDSA, RSPCA, DOG WARDEN. Not much help or in fact any help. After speaking with these organisations, other vets and doggy people, we realised that should I hand her over to any of these people Dolly will not be re-housed and will be almost certainly destroyed as she is:
1) Too expensive to treat
2) Too hard to re-home**

I have had dolly for nearly 3 days now and she has already seen a vet twice and been given some injections and tablets. Dolly is on a special diet currently, while we try and get her back close to her normal body weight. She is currently around 15kg but should really be closer to 30kg. She is also awaiting surgery for her serious injuries, which she cannot have until she is healthier as she is simply not strong enough at present.

Because I have housed Dolly I am now homeless myself. It is not possible to keep dolly at my flat along with my dog and my baby. Me and dolly are currently sofa surfing shoreditch which is not ideal.

If you want to help dolly, you can do so very easily.

1)Send love and support.

2)Invite as many people as you can to the Facebook group 'Save Dolly'

3)Send money, (make cheques payable to the Victoria Park Village Fundraisers and send to 487 Roman Road, London, E3 5LX)
Online payments can be made via fortehomesbow.co.uk and go to payments section. Where it says address just simply type save dolly.
If everyone gave a pound that would be so easy and so helpfull.
All proceeds will go directly to dolly's bills and care and any excess will be left with the Victoria Park Village Fundraisers, whom collect money to give help and care to terminally ill children. They are a really good cause and so is Dolly (you can check out their good work on the net).

4) Offer dolly a new home - serious people only!

5) Offer any suggestions for how we can raise more money to foot her bills - at present Vet Bills alone will be more than 1,000 pounds, let alone her food etc whilst we find her new home.

Massive thanks to the following people who have been very helpfull so far......

City and East London Grooming Centre , 423 Roman Road

Goddard Veterinary Group, Burdett Road, London

Forte Homes, Roman Road, London.

Shaun for his sofa last night

All the staff at Roman Properties for putting up with the smell of dolly and her barking whilst trying to still work hard.

Lulu, my dog for being so understanding and only a tiny bit massively jealous.

CAROLINE - For calling her dolly and thinking of the group save dolly. Without cal there'd be no dolly and no save dolly. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

**So far we have had many offers of a new home for Dolly, however, Dolly is a very special dog and MUST only go to the right people. She must be with someone who has plenty of time for her, no other animals, no small children and outside space. Any prospective owner will undergo rigourous questioning and will be home checked! We have all fallen in love with Dolly and feel she deserves only the best

http://www.gumtree.com/london/61/26105161.html

Decide to take her as my own and claim responsibility for her and set about getting her better and re-homing her in a suitable place.

Dolly Has Seen a Vet - Goddard’s in Mile End. Very nice people.

Have been told that with reference number RSPCA / Council will pay first £250 of treatment. - this is now known not to be the case and they will pay nothing towards her care.

Dolly weighed only 14kg, she should be around 23-27kg. She is around 18 months old. Dolly is given 3 injections and anti-biotic tablets to be given twice a day along with a special diet to build her weight back up slowly.

Am currently homeless as I have a dog, baby and girlfriend at home, and Dolly simply does not get on with my own dog Lulu. Will sleep on a friends floor...

WEDNESDAY 9TH JULY
Dolly has a nice new collar and lead! The collar she will have to grow into. Dolly had a good day with food, water lots of attention and no VETS! Me and Dolly slept on the floor of the office - not ideal.

THURSDAY 10TH JULY
I have now had dolly for another 24hrs+, Dolly goes back to the vets for check-up and consultation. She needs surgery to her leg and, ear and head, this is due to take place next week. The vet has estimated it will cost between 350-700, which is a big leap! She will be chipped and wormed and inoculated at the same time.

Dolly can be re-homed and is already toilet trained, walks well on the lead and is learning to sit stay etc. She is not hyperactive when with people, and is easy to have around. It’s just when she gets left alone or is with other dogs that she is a pain in the ass.

It’s funny that it was man who has hurt her and caused her physical and psychological pain and yet it is our attention she still craves.... would we be as forgiving as people?

FRIDAY 11TH JULY
THE BEST DAY YET.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed in whatever way. I am on the floor again tonight, but we all feel there is an end in sight and that we can find her a new home. We have had lots more donations, and they all really will help. Dolly has proved to me that she can be a good girl. She lets me take her food off of her, which considering she is very thin and hungry is a very good sign for any dog. She has also taken well to the training that I have started giving her. There are now so many people besides myself who have taken this Group as a full time job, and without them Dolly would not have got this far!

SATURDAY 12TH JULY
Dolly is getting stronger by the day and her personality is starting to show - she is very placid but is a real attention seeker A friend took Dolly for the afternoon and evening to give me a break - apparently she cried for me at first but was fine after a few minutes! Dolly has discovered that she loves being in the car!

SUNDAY 13TH JULY
We took Dolly to see a bull breed rescue specialist in Twickenham who has been a massive help so far. She fell in love with Dolly and was impressed with her training! She micro chipped Dolly and de-wormed her for free - which was such a massive help. She also assessed Dolly's temperment including how she was with other dogs - the great news is that Dolly CAN be re-homed with a male, neutered dog - it's just other bitches she doesn't like!

If you want to help dolly, you can do so very easily:

1)Send love and support.

2)Invite as many people as you can to the Facebook group 'Save Dolly' where you will also find regular updates

3)Send money, (make cheques payable to the Victoria Park Village Fundraisers and send to 487 Roman Road, London, E3 5LX). Online payments can be made via Paypal - please email or see Dolly's Facebook page for more info. All proceeds will go directly to Dolly's bills and care and any excess will be left with the Victoria Park Village Fundraisers, whom collect money to give help and care to terminally ill children.

4) Offer dolly a new home - there are strict criteria and we are very lucky to now have the help of a wonderful bull breed specialist who will be conducting all home checks.

5) Offer any suggestions for how we can raise more money to foot her bills - at present Vet Bills alone will be more than 1,000 pounds, let alone her food etc whilst we find her new home.
