Rescue Centres
« on: May 15, 2008, 04:20:48 PM »

About 6 years ago we wanted desperately to adopt a Boxer, we had the space, time, safe garden and above all the dedication to take on who really had been through the wringer so to speak and so we began our search.

To my total disgust and utterdismay we were told that because we already had Boxers and a GSD we certainly wouldn't be considered!  Now on hearing this I went into one and really went to town, explaining that they were NOT in a position to judge either us or our dogs as easily as that.  To cut a very long story short, about 3 weeks later we got a call, yep from same centre, could we foster two pups until homes were found!!!!!  I couldn't believe it.

Now what bothers me is how many centres have this sort of blinkered attitued I wonder??  Over the years I've heard so many very similar stories and wonder how many deserving dogs of all breeds don't get homes because of this precise attitude.
