Tablets
« on: April 25, 2006, 11:07:11 PM »
Hi, please could you tell me if I should be giving me dog Vitamin E or cod liver oil tablets? She is 4 1/2 years old and in good health.
If I should be giving her these, can dogs take the human form?
Thanks, Jo

Hello Jo,

A healthy 4 1/2 years old dog should not need any supplementation. A well balanced diet adapted to his breed (small, medium, large), age group (puppy, adult, senior) and activity (light/ working) will contain everything he needs.

Cod liver oil and vitamine E may be supplied on top.

Vitamine E as an anti-ageing agent will be more beneficial for our elderly patient.

Cod liver oil is a good source of essential fatty acids (improves joint and skin health + possible anti-inflammatory activity). It also provides an important source of Vit A and Vit D. Unfortunately when administered in too high quantity, Vit A and Vit D can potentially trigger various diseases. I would therefore use it with caution.

I hope this is helpfull.

Best regards,
